API Horizons provides personalised language tuition, educational consultancy, Oxbridge and university preparation, support for aspiring student-athletes, and consultancy around international educational and immersion opportunities.

API Horizons is founder-led. Students and families work directly with Alex Iltchev, drawing on more than 17 years' experience teaching in leading UK independent and international schools, alongside experience in departmental leadership, university preparation, sport and international educational programmes. This allows tuition and consultancy to consider the young person's wider educational goals rather than treating individual lessons in isolation. Alex has an Enhanced DBS check in place.

3. Which languages do you teach?

Specialist tuition is available in French and Spanish, alongside English support for international students. Tuition can focus on examinations, speaking confidence, grammar and writing, literary and film analysis, university preparation or broader language and cultural development.

4. Which examinations and levels do you support?
Support is available from GCSE and IGCSE through A Level and university preparation, as well as for adult learners. Please get in touch to discuss the particular examination board, course or

objective.

5. Are lessons online or in person?
Most individual tuition is delivered online, allowing students to work with API Horizons wherever they are based. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a different arrangement.

6. How much does tuition cost?
Rates currently start from £95 per hour. The precise cost will depend on the type of support required and the programme agreed.

7. How often should my child have lessons?
There is no standard answer. The appropriate frequency depends on the student's starting point, objectives, examination timetable and the amount of independent work they are able to complete between sessions. Following an initial discussion, API Horizons can recommend an appropriate approach.

8. What happens before tuition or consultancy begins?
The process begins with a conversation about the student's or family's current situation, goals and priorities. This helps establish whether API Horizons is the right fit and what form of support would be most useful.

9. What does educational consultancy involve?
Educational consultancy is broader than tutoring. It can include discussion of school or sixth-form choices, university and international pathways, academic planning, language-learning strategies and longer-term educational decisions. The aim is to provide independent guidance centred on the individual young person.

10. Can you help with Oxbridge and university applications?
Yes. Support can include preparation for Modern Languages applications, academic and literary discussion, interview preparation, independent reading and guidance on personal-statement writing. The emphasis is on developing the student's own thinking, knowledge and ability to communicate ideas independently.

11. How can API Horizons support aspiring athletes?
Support can be built around sporting commitments and may include French, Spanish or English language development, sport-specific vocabulary, confidence communicating in multilingual environments and guidance around studying, training or competing internationally.

Yes. API Horizons works with schools exploring international educational opportunities, particularly language immersion and overseas work-experience programmes. Support can include programme planning, student preparation, evaluation of existing provision and advice on developing new opportunities.

API Horizons is part of Qualified Tutor, an organisation that provides training for tutors to ensure that they deliver the best quality service to their clients. Part of their accreditation ensures that their tutors have a valid Enhanced DBS check (see above).
